Who has ever seen a king who clothed himself in humbleness, who rode a donkey as a triumphal entrance to a city?Jesus did. And He did what seems impossible to us: To show meekness instead of pride. Jesus is the embodiment of God on Earth and even so He didn't come and show off his godliness, he didn't gather an army to trail behind him to show power or wore fancy clothing to shine and convince us that he was a king. He chose to show himself humble and meek, to show kindness and love. And the people could see through that: They saw his Godliness. The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, You see, couldn't hide who He was even as He clothed himself with the garments of the poor. His light and love shine through. Nobody could deny that He was a King -even if they didn't really understand his Kingdom at the time- He is the King after all. And that day people were awaiting for a king who would save them from an enslaving empire. They were waiting for the rescue and the overthrowing of an empire. What they didn't understand -as many of us today- is that He didn't come to overthrow any king, or show power through force, He didn't come to rule this world. He began a journey, a painful one, to show and teach us they way to eternal life. No showing off required, no disguise is needed. God knows exactly who we are inside and out. He came out that day a Humble King to show us the way to his eternal Kingdom. Even when we are going through trials and preoccupations, suffering and unbelief, God is always faithful to be there with us and help us when we are our weakest, when we can't go any further, He is there awaiting to our cry. He looks for a meek and broken heart that looks up to Him with trust and love. He is not looking for perfection, because it cannot be attained by ourselves in this earthy life; it can only be seek through the Son of God, Jesus. He sent his Son so that through faith in him we would gain access to the Eternal Kingdom. John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. That is definitely worth celebrating! He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
